Salary: $60,230.80 - $68,760.70 annually
Location: Victoria – consideration may be given to other locations within reasonable travel distance of Victoria.

You have a passion for ‘big data’ and a knack for developing complex queries enabling businesses to ensure data quality and make sound management decisions! If you see order where others see chaos, working with multiple datasets while providing tabular and spatial data clarity for colleagues and clients within and outside of large and diverse organization - this job is for you!
Working within a stellar organization that has a clear goal and is performance driven, you will lead or assist in the development and maintenance of all reporting requirements, from corporate performance reports to ongoing data quality initiatives. This is an opportunity to work in a high-energy energy work unit within BC Timber Sales’ headquarters, providing support and leadership to 12 business offices across the province. Our successful candidate will work closely with information technology staff from our Ministry’s Information Management Branch in Victoria.
BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a semi-autonomous program within the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations (FLNRO), with financial and operational independence. BCTS markets Crown timber to establish market price and capture the value for the public. The vision of the organization is to be an effective timber marketer generating wealth through sustainable resource management.
Credible cost and pricing data is foremost in BCTS’ mandate and extends across every facet of our planning, operational and silvicultural activities. The BCTS Data Specialist role is to interpret and maximize the potential of tabular and spatial datasets providing corporate performance metrics, quarterly milestones and ad hoc queries assisting senior management with business decisions. As Data Specialist, you will report to the BCTS Data Manager, assisting in data quality audits and helping the 12 BCTS Business Areas conform to our Data Quality Management System.
