Salary: $65,902.62 – $82,312.26 annually

The Energy Efficiency Standards Engineer is the Government of BC's scientific expert on energy efficiency standards and regulations for equipment, buildings and industry. The Engineer reports to the Director of Energy Efficiency Policy and is responsible for providing detailed technical analysis and advice on performance and energy efficiency gains achieved by technological, system or design improvements in the built environment and industrial sector. She/he leads elements of, or supports the design, implementation, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of energy efficiency regulations, policy, research or projects, including standards under the Energy Efficiency Act.
The Engineer leads on the development of recommendations for national and international energy efficiency standards by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the International Standards Organization (ISO). She/he works closely on harmonization of energy efficiency standards with counterparts in federal, provincial and regional state governments to advance energy efficiency commitments under the Energy and Mines Ministers’ Conference (EMMC), Canadian Energy Strategy (CES) and Pacific Coast Collaborative (PCC).
The Engineer is expected to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position with minimum supervision, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. The Engineer must exercise initiative, tact and diplomacy in undertaking a wide variety of responsibilities.
