LSO OTHR 4 – Senior Environmental Scientist
Salary:  $65,902.62 - $82,312.26 annually

The Mines and Mineral Resources Division (MMRD) manages and facilitates the responsible development of BC’s mineral resources. MMRD’s main focuses are: ensuring safe and environmentally responsible mineral exploration, mine development and closure; providing timely permitting decisions; promoting BC’s many mineral opportunities and fostering a positive and supportive environment for staff; implementing the Premier’s Jobs Plan commitments and contributing to the achievement of the Province’s social, economic and environmental goals. 

The Senior Environmental Scientist is an Inspector of Mines and an expert in the field of metal leaching and acid rock drainage (ML/ARD).  This position conducts technical reviews and analysis of mining project plans, develops and recommends permitting conditions, and provides key technical support and advice to mining companies and government agencies to ensure compliance with mining legislation and environmentally sound practices.  This position plays a key role in helping to manage water quality risks to the environment.
