$62,000.18 - $86,000.25 annually

Corporate Policy and Legislation (CPAL), within the Deputy Minister’s Office, provides policy and legislation services to the Ministry and Minister’s Office.  CPAL takes a leadership role on cross-division or inter-ministry initiatives, and on providing the initial response to major issues or reports.  CPAL manages major policy and legislation projects relative to statutes that form part of the Minister’s accountabilities.  CPAL provides advisory services, as well as training and mentorship support to divisions as needed.  CPAL manages the Ministry’s Cabinet submissions, RFLs and OICs.

The Policy and Legislation Analyst plays a leadership role in developing an effective policy and legislative response to Ministry and government priorities, which can involve complex confidential policy, planning, legislative, economic and social issues with a significant impact or political sensitivity, and which must be addressed in short time frames.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • University degree in public policy, law, public administration, political science or relevant discipline, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and 2 years’ related experience in:

    • Planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.

    • Concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.

    • Managing diverse, constantly evolving workloads proactively, effectively, independently and under pressure.

    • Conducting research and policy analysis.

    • Researching, planning, analyzing and delivering new government policy.

    • Working within government’s decision-making process.

    • Developing legislation, regulations and policy.

    • Drafting Cabinet submissions, Treasury Board submissions, briefing notes or other policy and legislative documents.

    • Using databases, managing data and accessing data from sources.

  • Preference maybe given to candidates with 5 or more years of experience.
