Water is one of British Columbia’s fundamental sustainable natural resources.  The Water Management Branch leads in the delivery of provincial water programs including managing and regulating the allocation of water resources, ensuring safe and reliable community water supplies; and protecting public health and safety through River Forecast Centre operations, flood hazard management, regulation of dikes and dams, and emergency response actions.
 
As the Director, Water Management, you will lead the implementation of provincial legislation, policy, regulations and the delivery of services related to the effective management of the provincial water resource, including the following programs: Water Allocation, Dam Safety, Flood Safety, Water Utility Regulation, Water Use Planning, River Forecast Centre, Inter-jurisdictional Water Management and the Comptroller of Water Rights office.  In addition, the Director provides strategic, operational and technical advice to the minister, ministry executive and staff on water issues. The director provides a strategic link to government with respect to water through interaction with various internal and external stakeholders including, other ministries, local, provincial and international governments, First Nations, industry groups, and non-government organizations (NGOs).
