This position is primarily responsible for oversight of the Ministry of Education’s annual multi-million dollar service delivery contract and project workflow with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC) as it pertains to the Ministry’s Seismic Mitigation Program. This position provides expertise for the provision of building engineering standards and construction services for the 60 school districts throughout the provincial K-12 school system, including (but not limited to) the setting of building area, design & costing standards, assisting in the development of construction project agreement terms, establishing boiler plate construction language, as well as setting policies, standards, specifications, best practices, templates, forms and reporting requirements for the delivery of seismic, expansion, replacement, and major renovation capital projects.
A key aspect for you will be to assure analysis and investments through the Ministry’s numerous capital programs are targeting the greatest needs at school facilities to ensure the best return-on-investment in building life-cycle costing. You will also be required to recruit and manage staff and be a key member of the entire Capital Division team.
