Within the Ministry of Finance, the Assurance Analyst position at the Corporate Compliance and Controls Monitoring Branch in the Office of the Comptroller General ensures government payments are processed in accordance with legislation, financial and procurement policies and procedures, through consistent, accurate interpretation and application of approved compliance review routines and procedures. 
 
This position supports the division’s risk management and control framework, champions’ process improvement and standardization, ensures compliance with government core policy, and promotes best practices and program efficiencies.  They also provide advice and recommendations to Executive/Chief Financial Officers and senior financial managers in ministries regarding the effectiveness of their financial controls and procedures.
 
The Assurance Analyst position requires a motivated individual who works well both independently and as a collaborative and supportive team member. This position requires someone with strong critical judgement, analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:


  • Degree in business/economics or equivalent; or equivalent education and experience.

  • Experience interpreting legislation and conducting analytical research to support budget development and evaluation.

  • Experience preparing and analyzing financial data, accounting statements and financial reports.

  • Experience determining most efficient procedures to accomplish assignments.

  • Experience in accounts payable, procurement, compliance and/or audit support services is preferred.

  • Working towards a professional accounting designation is preferred.
