Job Summary:

Intensive Silviculture Specialist
Licensed Science Officer (Forester) 3
LSO FOR 3 Salary $61,805.03 - $ 77,194.06 annually

There is one position available to be located preferably in Victoria. Other locations may be considered for the successful applicant in the following cities: Nanaimo, Kamloops or Prince George.
An eligibility list may be established.

This position is responsible for interpreting and refining forestry legislation, regulations and policy, and for formulating best management practices and guidelines for the silviculture operations. This position collaborates with an expert community to assess licensee results and their impact on social and environmental conditions, identifies and develops legislation, regulations and policy to improve results.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirement as outlined below:

  • Degree in forestry, natural resource management, or related field; AND

  • Five (5) years of recent (within the last 7 years) and related experience in an area such as silviculture operations or forest stewardship; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience such as a Master’s Degree and three (3) years recent (within the last 5 years) and related experience.

  • Registered, or immediately* eligible for registration, as Professional Forester (RPF) with the Association of BC Forest Professionals. *Immediately means you are currently a RPF member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to ABCFP.

Please include your registration number with Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP) within your application, as you must be registered or immediately eligibility for registration as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with ABCFP. If you are not yet registered with the ABCFP, please explain how you are immediately eligible (i.e. currently a RPF member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to ABCFP).
