As a Stewardship Forester, you provide professional advisory services as a specialist in a field of expertise for a program area, (e.g. Forest Health, Forest and Range Evaluation Program (FREP), Silviculture, Fuel/Fire Management, Ecosystem Restoration, Timber Supply Reviews and Land Based Investment Strategy) to support natural resource management and decision making.  If you have experience in natural resource management and performing technical duties, we encourage you to apply.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirement as outlined below:

  • Bachelor of Science in Forestry or Natural Resource Management and 3 years of current (gained over the last 5 years) and directly related experience such as in operational field forestry such as forest tenure field development, engineering, silviculture, harvest operations or compliance and enforcement; OR,
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals.

 * Note:  immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current RPF membership from another Canadian jurisdiction to the ABCFP.  Applicants who do not meet the professional requirement may be considered at a lower level, subject to confirmation of eligibility for registration as Forester in Training with the ABCFP immediately upon employment with the Ministry.  Applicants must contact ABCFP to confirm their eligibility.

  • Experience organizing and managing complex initiatives.
  • Preference may be given for GIS experience.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
