Participates in the provision of leadership in managing information as a vital business resource, by defining major long-term strategic priorities for data architecture and advising on data governance for the ministry.

The Information Management Branch (IMB) delivers a full suite of information management and technology services to business divisions in the Ministry of Finance and Office of the Premier,  as well as Government House, Ministers’ Offices, and a number of  boards and commissions.  In partnership with our clients, we deliver technology enabled business transformation; design, build and maintain business applications, operate the ministry’s service desk, and provide infrastructure planning as well as information technology security and privacy support.  Although the key work is centered on technology, it is achieved through relationship building and a customer centric lens. The Information Management Branch is supporting large transformation and re-engineering of information management and information technology systems for multiple ministries/entities or a sector, ensuring alignment with ministry plans, government policies and standards.
As the Data Architect, you plan, develop and implement information architecture and associated standards.  You work with clients on information management best practices and frameworks to ensure integrity for the data resource and leadership in managing information as a valuable, sustainable asset. 

You lead the development of Ministry standards and guidelines for data modelling, data definition and associated data administration standards, and sign-off on all new system designs.  You provide expert data analysis, data design, and data quality services for both structured & unstructured information.  You provide expert technical direction and communicate effectively with business managers, IM/IT staff and contractors, and stakeholders. This position is critical to the architectural design, implementation and support of new applications. You will help ensure technical quality, cost control, and compliance to standards. You also will provide oversight of our outsourced service providers as well as strategic technical direction and quality control on data deliverables for projects and line of business applications.

A strong problem-solver with excellent analytical skills, you demonstrate creativity and the ability to work with abstract concepts. Experienced and capable in a high volume and fast paced environment, you apply exceptional interpersonal skills working collaboratively with teams to achieve successful outcomes for a multitude of stakeholders.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
•Degree, diploma, certification in the computer science field or equivalent plus experience at an intermediate analyst level
•Experience leading and/or participating in project teams. Preference will be given to applicant that demonstrative experience in leading parts or entire large long-term projects.
•Experience in managing contractors and projects.
•Demonstrated experience in information resource management, corporate data design, relational and/or object data modeling, data analysis, data reporting or warehousing and/or business area analysis techniques, data management principles, structured analysis and design, and documentation of business requirements.
•Preference may be given to applicants that have experience with long-term (+10 years) corporate information systems change management initiatives.
